Your first day in Freiburg
The old town, the Schlossberg, and a pint at the end
One day in Freiburg is enough to fall for it. Here is an easy way to see the best of the old town, with a great view in the middle and a pint at the end.
- Arrive at the main station Freiburg is a compact city and easy on foot. We are only about three minutes' walk from the Hauptbahnhof, next to the Stadttheater, so you can even drop in first to see what is on tonight.
- Through the old town Walk to the Münster and its market (not on Sundays). Follow the Freiburger Bächle, the little streams in the pavement, and look out for the two medieval city gates, the Martinstor and the Schwabentor.
- Up the Schlossberg Climb the hill above the old town, or take the Schlossbergbahn, for wide views over the roofs of the city and towards the Black Forest.
